The gelede masquerade comes to town, not knowing its private part is exposed. it dances and wear itself out.. jumping excitedly as the crowd cheer and clap.... Until someone thrusts Naira note in the private opening.. Embarrassed, it disappears from the crowd, knowing most of those hailing him all along have only been enjoying its naked shame and not its creative performance.
Such is the fate of those who pander to public whims and please the cheering crowd without knowing they are public exhibitions. They impress their band of audiences with reckless abandon, until they come to the end of their acts, and behold, they have been laughing stock all along. Our people in south west has a proverb, "were dun wo, ko se bi lomo"
