In the run up to the 2015 elections, there were fears that the ruling party will lose the election. every evidence on ground showed there is possibility of upset in a free and fair election. What with the introduction of the card reader, the albatross of election riggers and voters' impersonators. .?
They went to court to stop it including wanting the election postponed by 6 months to enable them regroup. All failed but they eventually got one of their wishes which is to extend the election by three weeks. The excuse given was that they need time to clear the bad boys from sambisa forest.
Then, came clear evidence of rigging in Ekiti as the video/audio surfaced from one of the eye witnesses. The erstwhile minister of defense has abused his power and used soldiers to intimidate opponents in Ekiti. Petitions after petitions were flooding the chamber from civil society against him. it was this culprit that the ruling party found suitable as minister of "God-knows-what" few weeks to the end of the administration.
They must have resolved to do any and everything within their power to ensure that the incumbent was not humiliated at the poll. despite all the opposition, and the evidences, what he got was "bow and go". and he was confirmed as minister.. Frustrated, the then opposition party members staged walkout of the assembly. It was useless exercise, but a face saving one, nonetheless.
Fast forward, October 2015.
The election has been won and lost. the ruling party lost grip of power to the opposition after 16 years of impunity. The tide has changed and the common sense revolution swept away so many established politicians that they still find it hard to believe.
And so history repeated itself in October 2015. A certain Lion from the south of Niger was indicted by his successor in an apparent political vendetta as a white paper was hurriedly published and sent to the National Assembly in order to stop his confirmation as a minister of federal Republic of Nigeria.
Despite all the drama and intrigues, it was business as usual for the lawmakers as the winners take all.. Notwithstanding the petition, the white paper and the grunting of the once upon a ruling party, the wish of the ruling party prevailed. and the once upon a ruling party, decided to stage walkout in protest. as if it would help their cause or ever result in reversal..
I believe some, if not most of our politicians at National Assembly need a little grow up to do. They display infantile behaviours on the floor of the house. So just because one controversial Lion from south of Niger was confirmed as minister and told to "bow and go", they have to stage a walkout in protest? What other plan of action have they earmarked to ensure vibrant opposition aside running away after defeat?
I suspect they must have done so, stamping their feet on the floor like an overfed spoiled brat who want to buy extra cake for keep.
Are these not the same honourables that screened and confirmed electoral rigger, few days to the election and few weeks to the end of the last regime ? The overwhelming evidences and petitions against him did not stop them from bypassing their colleagues...
As much as I found the two sides disgusting, and irritating, it is clear that this PDP will do no good as opposition in the next four years. that is if the party still exist that time.

.. and the new ruling party, they should take note of the reversal of fortune of the once upon a biggest political party in Africa. No matter how many years, people would vote you out if you fail them. Watch and learn.
. ..as for the PDP lawmakers, I don't want to call this party an opposition party because it is still in power by proxy. I only found it amusing that the powerful men in it can stage a walk out.. that is cheerful to hear, especially when majority of Nigerians want the party to exit the system and vanish altogether. To you and your new found love, bow and go, buddy..! The law making business will continue even if you stay away for four years. You have had your time and wasted it.
